British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste Owen Jenkins said:
“This will be my last official visit to Timor-Leste, a country that matters greatly to the UK. As Dialogue Partner to ASEAN, we fully support Timor-Leste’s smooth accession into the regional bloc so it can reap benefits such as developing strong trade connections with the major Asian economies and generating business opportunities for the Timorese private sector.
I would like to thank all our partners in Timor-Leste for their support, encouragement and advice. As I approach the end of my tenure as British Ambassador, I am very confident that our relations with Timor-Leste will continue to expand and be more dynamic and impactful for citizens of both our countries.”
